The Herpes Symptoms of genital herpes differ greatly from person to person, with a large number of people having no noticeable symptoms (asymptomatic). Following are some of genital Herpes Symptoms:
When the first out break takes place herpes symptoms usually began to develop within 2 to 20 days after the contact. These herpes symptoms may continue up to 2 weeks or might be so mild that it goes unnoticed. It can take much longer or even less severe in some people, particularly in those who have partial immunity to the virus through having facial herpes, e.g. cold sores. As soon as the virus gets into skin cells it reproduces itself that makes the skin red and sensitive. The infected area may itch, tingle or burn, during the outbreak. Other herpes symptoms include swollen lymph glands, headache, fever, muscle ache, lower back pain and painful inflamed blisters that are developed around infected area. Vaginal or penis discharge, infection of the urethra causing a burning sensation during urination, a burning sensation in the genitals and small red bumps in the genital area are among earlier herpes symptoms that later develop into painful blisters that crust over, form a scab, and heal. N o herpes symptoms are seen in up to 60% of people that have genital HSV. Still they are capable of transmitting this virus to others (asymptomatic viral shedding).
After the lesions heal and the herpes symptoms of recurrence have end, pain and discomfort in the genital area is still felt sometimes (post-herpetic neuralgia). Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are used to treat this condition. A number of people find these drugs useful for the discomfort of the prodrome and for the time period of the outbreak. 80% of the people having a first episode which is caused by HSV-2 may have at least one recurrence while 50% of people with HSV-1 may experience a recurrence too. The common scenario is occasional recurrences of the disease that takes place about 4 attacks per year. Mostly the first year has the most viral activity.
